Graphite over watercolor tint

Greetings, tonight I have started the process of sharing the things I see and experience during my waking hours and maybe some from my non waking hours. I have been drawing for many years and have been painting a bit lately, during this time I have maintained a sketchbook but as many artists do we sometimes drift away from the sketchbook habit. It becomes a "Love Hate" relationship, I know I should not care one bit what anyone thinks about my entries but I do. This results in my ripping the bad ones out! which defeats the purpose of a sketchbook in the first place. So feeling a bit dejected by that behavior I set the thing down for a period of time only to start all over again. Finally I have a sketchbook that is nearing the last page, it should come with the next month or two.

A few days before Christmas I came across a wonderful book by Danny Gregory titled "An Illustrated Life - drawing inspiration from the private sketchbooks of artists, illustrators and designers"  It displays comments and art from many of these folks and they too at times struggle with maintaining their own sketchbooks, so I am not alone.

This Blog is part of my plan to expand my sketchbook work and to share with you my progress and setbacks. Please feel free to comment on my entries no matter how harshly or favorably you are. I will welcome them all. Oh by the way this first sketch is from my current sketchbook and it a self portrait done during a portrait drawing class at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville this fall.
